Dell Technologies World: Embracing AI as the Foundation of Dell’s Future

Michael Dell, the CEO of Dell Technologies, recently reflected on the company’s 40-year journey during the Dell Technologies World (DTW) 2024 in Las Vegas. He emphasized the significant role of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in driving innovation and highlighted that the technology industry has been operating in a low gear until now.

Dell stated that the progress made so far was just a pregame show, and the industry is now transitioning from computation to cognition in the age of AI. He expressed his excitement and confidence in the opportunities AI presents for transforming organizations, lives, and the world.

Bill McDermott, the CEO of ServiceNow, joined Dell on stage to discuss the path charted by AI and their collaboration in this area. McDermott praised Dell for their reliable cloud platform and the use of Dell servers to train their AI models. He emphasized the real-world impact of AI and how it enables people to achieve things they never dreamt of before.

During the conference, Dell announced the launch of Dell AI Factory, which offers a wide range of AI solutions across their PC, networking, storage, and cloud hardware portfolio. The core focus of AI Factory is data control, management, optimization, and security.

One of the major introductions under the AI Factory banner is a new series of Dell AI PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus processors, equipped with Microsoft Copilot+ for enhanced productivity. Behind the scenes, Dell has also introduced data management and protection enhancements, including the PowerScale F910 all-flash file storage solution and Project Lightning software architecture for accelerated AI training.

Dell has expanded their networking product portfolio to deliver accelerated AI performance, featuring the PowerSwitch Z9864F-ON switch for improved network performance, the PowerEdge XE9680 server for enhanced scalability and efficiency, and innovations around Enterprise SONiC Distribution and SmartFabric Manager for SONiC.

In addition to hardware advancements, Dell offers a range of services to help organizations drive better business outcomes from their AI initiatives. These services include implementation services for Microsoft Copilot and accelerator services for Dell Enterprise Hub.

Furthermore, Dell is collaborating with Hugging Face and Meta to optimize GenAI model deployment, and deepening their collaboration with Microsoft for Azure AI services.

Dell emphasized that the AI Factory is creating intelligence, making companies more efficient and productive, advancing scientific discovery, and driving innovation within organizations.
