Microsoft is experimenting with incorporating new generative AI search technology into Bing

Microsoft has introduced AI-generated answers in its Bing search engine, following Google’s AI Overviews. Starting on July 25, a small percentage of user queries will result in custom answers to questions typed into the search bar. According to a Bing blog post, the goal is to provide users with quick and accurate answers to their queries, with traditional search results appearing alongside the AI-generated answers. Additionally, ChatGPT-powered search and chat features have been added to Bing, improving accuracy in search results. While Microsoft has not disclosed which AI models are used in Bing, it assures businesses that the new AI capabilities will not decrease website clicks and will support a healthy web ecosystem. As Bing continues to evolve with the inclusion of AI, it may see an increase in user interaction and clickable links in search results, similar to Google’s dominant position in the search market.
