Microsoft Invests $3.2bn in UK AI, Making a Bold Move

Microsoft is making its biggest ever investment in the U.K., pledging £2.5 billion ($3.2 billion USD) to expand its AI capabilities and support the country’s AI sector. Over the next three years, Microsoft plans to double its AI data centre footprint in the U.K., deliver AI training to over one million people, and supply graphic processing units for the country’s AI infrastructure. The investment will also provide prioritized access to Azure-based generative AI resources for leading U.K. universities. In addition, Microsoft will offer AI skills training to support workers across the AI economy. This investment marks Microsoft’s largest in the U.K. to date and demonstrates confidence in the country’s technology sector.
